Carrer Objective

My objective is to work as a senior designer of footwear and accessories in a competitive fashion environment where I plan to boost the sales of the company through my technical knowledge and experience; to create new designs and commercial products that have brand value, while keeping in mind the strategic targets of the organization and the needs of the customers.

Designation: Senior Footwear Designer

Company: C&A BUYING GmbH & Co. KG - Düsseldorf (Period: March 2013-March 2014)

Key functions and responsibilities as Senior Footwear Designer

• Managing the design critical path: ensuring the value chain calendar by preparing the year planner for meetings, travels, supplier visits and trainings for design team.

• Preparing seasonal strategies for design: presenting the key shapes and details of the season to buying and planning teams to arrange seasonal option plan and to build a collection structure together.

• Managing the meetings: assuring the preparation of the design team for concept definition and brand review meetings.

• Searching for seasonal trends and materials: attending raw material and product fairs; buying samples from the cities of Europe; making internet researches; visiting the material markets and collecting material swatches to build seasonal material/fabrics library in order to bring relevant input into the collection.

• Coordinating with the garment team: preparing seasonal story boards, color and material palettes in Düsseldorf office; having monthly meetings with fashion coordinators of garment department (for ladies in Düsseldorf, for men and kids in Brussels office)  to check the outfits in colors and concepts.

• Creating new collection: developing women’s, men’s and kids’ collection of footwear according to the option plan. Assuring that new developments are drawn in sketches and colored on the computer. Ensuring all technical features (last, outsole, material, trims, etc.) of the styles are specified on the design sheets. Finally, presenting the whole drawings on boards.

• Carrying through the ideas: sending the design sheets to the suppliers by email or visiting to the suppliers (both Europian and Far East); following the process from design to product. Communicating with the suppliers during sample development so as to finalize the sample in requested way. Removing the defects, if any, by proposing different techniques of sample making.

• Managing the team: supporting junior designers using their creative design knowledge and talent. Helping them to overcome the difficulties they are reporting. Giving feedback to fashion coordinator about their improvements.

• Presenting the collection: setting up and maintaining collection building area. Updating the products in that area, checking the execution of the products to have a correct collection and presentation in the showroom.

• Visiting C&A stores and competitors regularly to learn about the sales and customer expactations; and building collection strategies for following seasons according to these information.

• Working with visual merchandising team to develop better methods of presentation for the products in the stores. Following the flow of windowlines/brochures with garment and marketing team during the season.

Company: LC WAIKIKI A.S.- Istanbul (Period: December 2007-February 2013)

Key functions and responsibilities as Senior Footwear and Accessories Designer

• Searched for seasonal trends and materials; attended raw material and product fairs; bought samples from the cities of Europe, USA and Far East; made internet researches; visited the material markets.

• Prepared seasonal story boards, color and material palettes; checked them with creative managers of garments.

• Managed the assistant and junior designers to have a common understanding of the collection before sketching.

• Developed collection of footwear and accessories (hats, bags, belts, wallets, socks) according to the option plan. Drew the sketches and colored them on the computer with technical specifications. Presented them on boards.

• Sent the design sheets to the suppliers by email or visited to the suppliers (both Turkish and Far East) for development; followed the processes from design to product.

• Visited the stores regularly to learn about the sales; attended to the customer focus meetings; worked with visual merchandising team to develop better presentation methods for the products in the stores.

• Got involved in the catalogue shoots; arranged the still life photographs.

• Searched for new season trends for women’s footwear collection for the Turkish and Russian market.
